From 14 th to 16 th of October, Ilhapeixe was on the “Feira do Mar e do Pescador”, on Caniçal, Madeira Island.
The event began with a series of lectures, followed by the inauguration of the exhibition pavilion with many entities linked to the sector. Besides Ilhapeixe, the entities were: “Direção regional das pescas”, IBTAM (in honor of the women who stayed on land to embroider, while the men went to the sea), “Coopesca”, “Multiredes”, MEN, a boats exhibitor and an artisan who worked with rocks and materials found on beaches.
During the event, the public could see the exhibition and talk with these entities’ representatives.
On the 15th, lectures were held on the Future of Fisheries, with emphasis on the presentation on Lapas, its closed season and explanation of the changes that have taken place.
On the last day, prizes were awarded for catches until 31 th August, both to “Espadeiros” and Tuna boats with catches of Bluefin tuna, Bigeye, Albacore and Skipjack tuna, and also to “Ruameiros”.
Regarding the participation of Ilhapeixe, there were many people interested, who stopped by to watch the videos presented and ask some questions.
We also received a very important visit of the Secretary of State for Fisheries, Teresa Coelho, to our booth.
